Family sports day

Don’t leave all the competitive fun to the school sports field, let the whole family get involved with a family sports day for kids, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends! You can pull out all the old classics like the egg and spoon race, dressing up race and three-legged race or make up your own obstacle courses and carnival games.

Get Treasure Hunting

Help them burn off energy and get them engaged with nature with an outdoor scavenger hunt. Set up a trail of clues to find around the garden or park and lead the party crowd to a prize. You could then extend the outdoor fun by choosing an activity or toy they can set up and play with immediately to continue with in the fresh air.

Garden nerf wars

Big kids will love this one. All you need is a large outdoor space and nerf guns or similar - and let the battle commence. Get ready to dodge in what will prove to be quite a workout.

Big splash birthday

One of the best things about summer as a child? All the water fun to be had! Paddling pools, seaside trips, sprinkle runs... How about turning their next birthday party in a splashing fest with loads of water activities to choose from.

Read our blog 13 Fun Outdoor Water Games Your Hotdogs Will Love' for ideas on what these could include.

Messy play day

Let their creativity flow without having to stop and worry about the mess, by setting up a messy play day in the garden or at your local park. Chuck down some tarpaulins or keep to natural ingredients which won’t impact the lawn, and set up invitations to paint, build, make potions and get messy with no prescribed outcomes.

Check out our blog here for more ideas for messy outdoor fun with your tuff spot this summer.

Emma Watson, Owner, Little Hotdog Watson

After growing up in the North-west of England, Emma’s love of travel and style saw her career move to London with a fashion + business degree,  first working as a trend researcher then menswear buyer for some of the most famous stores in the UK.

In 2015, having had her first baby she moved to Norwich to explore a family life closer to beaches and the countryside. Becoming a parent she found herself in a world of kidswear that didn’t look good or perform for the type of fresh air fun as a family so she set about creating her own brand. Little Hotdog Watson was born in 2016. The summer and winter hats for kids and adults, jam-packed with innovative protective technology have gone on to win awards, grace the pages of magazines, like Vogue, Grazia, Independent, Mother and Baby and celebrities alike.

Emma had another daughter in 2019 and became a lecturer in Fashion and Business at Norwich University of the Arts.  She continues to design hats at her dining room table and share her passion to help families get outside more and explore the world.
