5 of the Best Beach Shoes
The heatwave we’ve been promised is actually coming plus everyone not tied to school holidays is getting set for adventure. So I thought I’d share some of our favourite beach shoes for kids + big kids.
When I’m looking for a great beach shoe I’m looking for three things 1) Can you get them on + off easily 2) Is the sole thick enough to provide protection + slim enough so it doesn’t weigh little legs down 3) Do they look stylish AF.

Crocs
What is it with Crocs, these ugly/practical shoes have moved into not just a place of fashion but also warm the cockles a little too thinking back to fond memories. We love them for camping as they are easy to slip on and off getting in and out of the tent for midnight wees + for very rocky beaches in places like Croatia.
Defo one to co-ordinate with the kids and if you want to be a complete VSCO mama don’t forget to decorate. Our faves are the silver, they have worn well and have packed away for the next babs.
Christopher Kane has done some amazing versions this season with large rock crystals at a large price ;) If you want to create your own head over to Pinterest there are plenty of fun ways to create this and other cool looks such as punk with studs, flowers + you can even draw directly onto them.
I really like the idea of creating something fun with your little one and getting creative whether it's gems, flowers or the jibbitz charms.
Sliders
Sliders continue to hang around, I have to admit they are one of my absolute favourites for ease on holiday although they can be more tricky for little kids. But don’t worry I have trick to help.

For big kids with a bigger budget these Isabel Marant sliders are fabulous + also available in hot pink. Equally, as stylish and in more colours is the classic Adidas Adilette sliders. They also fit from teenies to adults so you can twin if you like. You can even spice it up with the animal print version.
Madewell jumpsuit + adilette sliders
For the kids you can mini size too in all the versions. If they struggle with them slipping off you can add a back strap with minimum sewing knowledge. Here’s a tutorial for adding to ‘haviana style’ sandals. To add to slider simply punch a pole in the side of the slider of stitch on to the inside. And for teeny babies don't forget the Adilette play.
Fancy something more fun in the slider stakes for the kids then check out these from Moschino. Or if you want something monochrome but not matchy matchy these from Nununo are fab
Aqua Shoes
This is our own unique take on our holiday needs. A shoe that is light enough to be worn in the river, sea (if smaller stones) a bit of grip and easy on / off. This is our 3rd pair (we just replace as we grow out of them). One of the best purchases we make each summer. I wish M&S did more colour/pattern options but a winner in our house. Their aqua shoe is currently sold out but I spotted a few on Ebay.
Nike have a version of this called Sunray which is pretty similar but for the money and if you can get them M&S is my fave. The Sunray does however come in lots more colour options and has a water resistant lining.
Jelly Shoes
Yep, sometimes they get a bit stuck on hot feet but you can’t beat a classic jelly shoe and Mini-Melissa are our faves. Great quality, lots of choice of fun design and velcro fastenings. All the styles we’ve had have lasted well and can be handed down. I love these lolly pop versions but also their new Toy Story version is very stylishly executed.
Adult options available too. They still have the classic Vivienne Westwood collab that I love but this collection with Opening Ceremony is just beaut - especially if you like a little heel with your jelly. Also, check out Opening Ceremony one of my fave brands if you like a little quirkiness with your design and now shipping to the UK
What I’ve missed?
You’ll might notice I’ve missed off everyone’s faves Saltwater sandals. I’m sorry but they just don’t fit me nor do I find them very comfortable so they haven’t made the cut but I know there are some die-hard fans and for good reason. They can be worn in the water, have rust proof buckles + generally last forever. I wish they fitted :( So here’s a couple of styles you might like and the great thing is you can twin too :)

Socks
Yep socks - cool to rock with them, comfy to wear. Long or short, plain or patterned. Grab a pair and totally earn yourself some 80s dad points.
