Wear it Well - How To Wrap Up In Winter Style
The AW17 fashion season might be ending, but we’ve still got a couple of cold month’s left to get through – and we’ll find any excuse to keep wearing our snug Arctic Cubs here at LHW HQ! If you don’t feel you and your Little Hotdog have cracked warm winter style yet, here’s our guide on styling out the bitter weather before spring arrives (featuring some of my favourite independent kids brands).
Layer up
There’s a reason layering up never goes out of style: it’s practical and warm. When you’re not sure you can trust your smartphone forecast, it’s good to know you can strip down on layer up during your day – rather than finding yourself sweating in a super thick knit - and means you’ve always got the option to adjust a toddler’s warmth without too much fuss. Unless they’re one of those wriggly rivals-an-octopus types…
We love this hoodie over sweatshirt look as designed by our friend Louise over at Jax & Hedley:

Cardigans are brilliant for layering up too and don’t have to be dull. This bold gender-neutral beauty is from Beau Loves:

Choose the right hat
No-one likes chilly ears, and with our little explorers especially susceptible to earache and discomfort, getting a snug winter hat is so important! What’s difficult is getting them to keep their hats on. But if it’s fun and super cosy you’ll stand a much better chance.
Little Hotdog Watson winter hats have not only been designed to be comfortable from birth, they feature unique smart design technology to make them a fabulous winter investment you can wear year after year:

Go versatile with footwear
An amazing pair of boots will keep little feet warm, dry, comfortable and on trend! We love leather boots because they’re breathable, mould to the foot, soften, and help keep feet snug without getting sweaty. Take a look at our fave boot selection over on our Pinterest LHW Winter fashion board.

Don’t forget a good sock
Socks don’t need to be boring. These knee length socks from Tressy Club and Koowawa are a brilliant choice for winter wear – and look how cute they are!
The most important layer, the finishing touch, a great jacket. I love a puffa jacket for H as it means she’s got a substantial final layer to keep out any really bitter winds, and there are some amazing independent brands doing quirky kids jackets. We adore MOLO jackets in particular:
Hat: Kids Rookie Panda Print Beanie £18.00
Coat: Yellow MOLO Jacket
